welcome to my travels + thoughts

pretending to live upstate

pretending to live upstate

24 days of waking up to 7am puppy licks, watching the sun pass through wooded skies, wine-soaked winding conversations, pulling on hiking shoes to brave the biting cold for sweeping scenes, the warmth of small-town shop owners, burning my tongue on the latest kitchen experiment, turning over records to side 2, the smokey scent on his collar from stoking the fireplace, pleading the pup to pee as I wait in the pitch-black woods, laughing at her hiccups from eating too fast, feeling my heart catch as she melts into my lap — of an upstate home that wasn’t ours, until maybe it was.

Thank you @barthiggins and @carlacolour for sharing your home and dog, and @asheelk for daring to dog-sit with me ❤️
